“Your daughter has a 5% chance to live.” My husband and I heard those words 11 years ago when our beautiful daughter Lindsey was born. She was born with several heart defects. The American Heart Association and an amazing team of physicians dramatically changed her outcome. She is a double open-heart survivor! Today she is a vibrant girl and loves to dance, sing with me and inspire others with heart health challenges. We’re grateful to all that we can call our brave daughter a survivor. My family has a wish that no other parent, family member or friend will hear those words; and that is why we are chairing the Open Your Heart campaign at the 2018 Heart& Stroke Ball.
