Event Synopsis
A world of longer, healthier lives requires all of us to build a culture of health. Too often programs and events exist on an island and absent a supportive context. Moving beyond that requires workplace wellness professionals to “tell their story” and engage their entire organization in that same vision and purpose for better health.
Mitch Martens, director of employee health at Cedars Sinai will share how we can tell a story to employees that engages them by meeting them where they are, finding common ground, and building up their Great 8 Life Skills. He knows that employees will rarely care about their company, until they know their company cares about them. Wellness layering will engage the entire organization, not just the extremes of the bell-curve, and allow a focus on building the best things in life, not just repairing the worst. Yet while grassroots engagement is the goal, we know that making that possible requires buy-in from leadership as well.
Dr. Jeff Thompson, former CEO of Gundersen Health, will share what led him to seek a culture of health for his employees – and the institution - while ensuring buy-in from leaders at all levels of the organization.
Because we know that the best learning often happens from each other, the Symposium will close with a chance to discuss what we’ve learned with those at your table – intentionally chosen for what they have in common with you. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask Mitch and Jeff questions they are still wrestling with in a “speed-dating” format designed to get to the heart of the matter.
